Important Singing Tips to Remember

Singorama Online Singing LessonsEven if you’re a beginner vocal student, these singing tips will help you. Memorize these tips as all good singers know these things.

Drink Lots of Water
This is an important singing tip. Always keep your vocal chords lubricated, trying to sing when your throat is dry could strain your vocal chords. By drinking at the least 8 glasses of water daily you’ll keep your vocal chords well lubricated and ward off potential injury.

Get Plenty of Rest
Another singing tip to remember is that when you sing, the throat and muscles should always be relaxed. When you’re exhausted, it’s much easier to tense up and strain when you’re singing so don’t if you’re overly tired. Wear loose and comfortable clothing to allow easier breathing, after all singing is mostly about breathing.

How you position your feet is also quite important to singing properly. Always try and sing with your feet fairly flat, high heals can often cause you to adopt a bad singing posture. Singing requires you to use the whole body especially the diaphragm. If your posture is open and comfortable, you won’t have good control of the diaphragm.

More Important Singing Tips
Imagine that a long cord is hanging from the ceiling and linked to your upper chest area. It may feel a bit weird to start with, but imagining this will help you to form the correct pose for singing. Your feet should be a foot or apart. This will give you more control over your body and allow you to minimize your body movements while singing. Try having one foot  6 to 8 inches in front of the other, it doesn’t count which foot. A rule of thumb that some people use is if you’re right-handed then place your right foot in front. This can allow for good body control.

Other Singing Tips
Slightly bend the knees, this is to prevent them from locking while singing. You should aim to place most of your weight over your front foot and there shouldn’t be any strain. Obviously it makes sense not to have anything in your mouth while singing too. You won’t be able to sing well if you’re trying to stop that piece of chewing gum from falling out so if you do have any, get rid of it before you start. Remember that singing is actually a fairly physical activity and you should aim to have some decent level of fitness in order to play it. Use these singing tips and you’ll be one step close of the becoming the singer you always wanted to be.
